7 things you need to know about the electrifying Xiaomi SU7 Electric Sedan

Xiaomi is boldly entering unexplored territory with the introduction of its first-ever electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7. Yes, you read it right! This marks an electrifying addition to Xiaomi’s already diverse product portfolio.

True to Xiaomi’s tradition, the SU7 Electric Sedan boasts a plethora of cutting-edge technologies that might even prompt a reconsideration from industry giants like Tesla and Porsche. Let’s look at the seven characteristics of the Xiaomi SU7.

1) Xiaomi SU7 will come in two flavors: the dual-motor all-wheel-drive SU7 Max, and the single-motor rear-wheel-drive SU7.

2) The SU7 (Rear-wheel drive) has a claimed range of up to 668km, a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.28s, and a top speed of 210 km/h.

3) The SU7 Max (Dual motor All wheel-drive) has a claimed range of up to 800km (497 miles), and a 0-100km/h acceleration of just 2.78s with a top speed of 265 km/h. The SU7 max’s figures beat Tesla’s Model S and Porsche’s Taycan Turbo. Impressive right?

4) The SUV 7 is designed by some known talent from the automotive industry. The list includes- Tianyuan Li, formerly of BMW’s iX series and iVision concepts, James Qiu, from Mercedes-Benz’s Vision EQXX design team, and Chris Bangle, a BMW veteran who joined the team as a design consultant. The sleek-looking sedan blends the traits of Porsche and McLaren.

5) The Xiaomi SU7 is a big sedan with generous legroom and impressive trunk spaces — 517L in the back and 105L in the front.

6) There’s a lot of tech inside- a 16.1-inch 3K central screen powered by Xiaomi HyperOS backed by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295. The sedan has a 23 Dolby Atmos speaker setup.

7) The sedan is loaded with numerous sensors including a LIDAR with a visual range of up to 200m for autonomous driving.

Xiaomi’s electric sedan, the SU7, marks a bold entry into the automotive arena, targeting consumers seeking style, technology, and sustainability. Packed with cutting-edge features, the sedan poses a potential challenge to established car manufacturers, only when we see it purely from the numbers and specifications perspective.

Selling a car and ensuring its long-term support for service and parts is a different game altogether, which Xiaomi needs to crack.

Only time will reveal the true impact of Xiaomi’s venture into electric vehicles.
