Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 leak hints at SOS and fall detection feature

New design renders for Samsung’s Galaxy Fit 3 have emerged, signaling the company’s continued venture into the realm of proprietary fitness wearables. Samsung is no newcomer to the fitness wearable scene. The complete Galaxy Watch lineup can be considered part of this category, with a primary emphasis on delivering a phone-like experience in a compact, wrist-worn device.

On the flip side, specialized fitness wearables tend to prioritize health tracking, throwing in a dash of productivity. The Galaxy Fit lineup aligns with this approach, and it’s been a while since Samsung dropped a new one. However, that seems poised to change soon. Evan Blass shared fresh renders and marketing images on Twitter/X, offering a glimpse of the Galaxy Fit 3 in various colors and scenarios, providing a closer look at the smartwatch-like features it packs.

The design is super recognizable, rocking a squared-off profile reminiscent of the Apple Watch, albeit slimmer. Those earlier leaks were right on the money, predicting the Galaxy Fit 3 would sport an AMOLED display. The screen measures 1.6 inches and boasts a more pleasing aspect ratio than its predecessor, the Fit 2.

The frame is made of aluminum and offers three color choices: black, silver, and rose gold. As per the leaked specs, the Fit 3 is slated to be IP68 water and dust-resistant, holding its own up to 5ATM.

According to the images in the marketing materials, the Galaxy Fit 3 is expected to deliver a whopping 13 days of battery life on a single charge. This is quite impressive, especially considering it seems to pack many features similar to those found in the Galaxy Watch series. It covers sleep and exercise tracking, displays notifications from your phone, and even throws in safety features like SOS or fall detection.

The operating system on the Galaxy Fit 3 is a bit of a mystery, but it seems like a slimmed-down variant of One UI Watch. It appears to be a version tailored for fitness trackers, offering modern features without putting too much pressure on the battery. Interestingly, the leak also spills the beans on what the Galaxy Fit 3 won’t feature – no NFC, GPS, third-party app installations, or ECG capabilities.

On the bright side, it does come with customizable watch faces, a quick settings menu, and a bunch of other familiar UI elements. It’s logical to reserve those advanced features for a productivity-focused gadget like the Galaxy Watch. Still, having ECG functionality in a fitness wearable focused on health tracking would be a welcome addition.
