So, there’s this new Google phone dubbed Tokay that just popped up on the Geekbench 5 benchmark database. It managed to score 1082 points in the single-core test and 3121 points in the multi-core test. Rumor has it, this might be running on the Google Tensor G4 SoC (which hasn’t been officially announced yet), likely to be the powerhouse behind the next Pixel phones.
Just a heads-up, these scores are a tad lower compared to what we’ve seen with the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro on Geekbench 5, which makes us question the legitimacy of this benchmark result. Plus, in the past, it’s been pretty easy to fake listings on the Geekbench database, so we’d suggest taking this one with a grain of salt.
The Geekbench listing for Google Tokay spills the beans on its processor specs. According to the listing, the next Pixel phone will pack an octa-core processor with a main core ticking at 3.10GHz, three cores running at 2.60GHz, and four more cores at 1.95GHz. It also mentions an integrated Mali G715 GPU and 8GB of RAM.
This is the first time we’re seeing this smartphone pop up on a benchmark or certification site. We don’t know the exact name of the Google Tokay, but we’re guessing it could be one of the upcoming phones in the Google Pixel 9 series.
For those who haven’t heard, there’s talk that Google is gearing up to drop three smartphones as part of the Pixel 9 lineup. Two of them are said to be the Google Pixel 9 (codenamed komodo) and Pixel 9 Pro (codenamed caiman). Word on the street is that there’ll also be a smaller version of the Pixel 9 Pro, but we’re still in the dark about its codename and what it’ll be called when it hits the market.
