Shopkeepers are selling iPhone 15 at much higher prices
A few days ago we reported that it’s best to wait a few weeks or months to buy the new iPhone 15, now there are further reasons to repeat the advice as it turns out the latest Apple flagship phones are selling for as much as Rs 20,000 more than the price.
The top model iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a price tag of Rs 1,99,900, but that hasn’t deterred buyers from lining up at stores. The unexpected crazy demand for the phone has led to strained initial stock. The first to seek benefits from this skewed supply is the offline retailer space who are selling the phone at extreme prices, higher than the official prices.
According to a report by News18, several offline retailers in Delhi and tier-2 cities like Jaipur are selling the iPhone 15 Pro models much above the MRP.
While retailers are charging Rs 20,000 more on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 15 Pro is selling for Rs 5000-10,000 more than the MRP, depending on the color and storage capacity.
As per the report, a shop in Karol Bagh, New Delhi is asking for Rs 1,51,000 for the iPhone 15 Pro 256GB, exactly Rs 6,000 more than its launch price of Rs 1,44,900.
In a smaller city like Jaipur, the situation regarding the same phone was worse as a retailer was charging Rs 8,000 more for the iPhone 15 Pro 256GB in Blue Titanium color.
If this isn’t enough, you’ll be shocked to know how much some retailers are charging for the top model’s 1TB variant.
A retailer in Thane, Maharashtra has put up a price tag of Rs 2,32,000 for the phone – a surprising amount of Rs 32,000 above the MRP.
One should note that the iPhone 15 Pro models are significantly more expensive in India than in countries like the US and the UAE. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will cost you nearly Rs. 1,00,000 in the US, while the same phone costs Rs 1,59,900 in India.
It appears retailers are cashing in on the high demand and low supply, which is cheating if you ask us.
This is not the first time that a low supply of new iPhones has sent the prices skyrocketing.
