Apple may introduce major upgrades with its Watch X

Ten years of Apple Watch deserve a grand upgrade to the luxury smartwatch. And Apple might actually be working on one such upgrade for its Apple Watch X.

As per a report by gizmochina, fans can expect a major overhaul of their favorite iconic Apple Watch, with a potential launch of the Apple Watch X sometime in 2024 or 2025 to mark the smartwatch’s ten-year anniversary.

In the past few years, Apple has only introduced a few smaller updates to the Watch, making it all the more significant to do something big with the Apple Watch X.

Here’s what to expect from Apple Watch X

According to tech analyst Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch X could come with a sleeker design and introduce a new magnetic system for attaching bands.

He suggested that since bands are slid into the sides and locked under the current design, it takes up a lot of internal space, restricting the possibility for a larger battery among other improvements.

The magnetic attachment method might offer more space for enhancement. Although it is not known at this point how this will work in the Watch X.

Apple might also make a significant shift in its approach by adding advanced elements like a micro-LED screen and sensors to track blood pressure, a feature that has been available in Samsung’s Galaxy Watch for some time now.

Earlier reports had mentioned that there might be a potential delay in the new Apple Watch due to production chain configuration, which would have pushed the launch to 2026. This new report contradicts the earlier report.

With all eyes on the anniversary model, it is expected that the Apple Watch Series 9 will be a minor upgrade.

If you remember, the biggest update in Apple Watch 8 was the body temperature sensor, and before that, it was just a larger display, so don’t expect anything flashy from Apple this year either.

Last year, all the major upgrades were focused on the Apple Watch Ultra, which was at the higher end of the price spectrum.

It is believed that the new watches will remain the same size as current models and the most noticeable difference will be faster processors and fresh colors.

Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone 15 series of phones on September 12. The Apple Watch 9 is also expected to be released on the same day.
