Costlier and powerful Apple iPad line-up incoming on May 6; everything you need to know

Anticipation is building as some fresh new leaks from renowned insider Mark Gurman shed light on Apple’s forthcoming iPad line-up. The reveal promises to introduce a new iPad Pro model alongside various iterations of the iPad Air, each boasting different screen sizes.

Originally slated for an April launch, production challenges have led to a slight delay in the unveiling of these highly anticipated devices. However, the wait is nearly over, with May 6th earmarked as the date for Apple’s grand iPad showcase.

Gurman’s insights suggest that this event will mark one of the most substantial updates to Apple’s tablet range in recent memory. Alongside the revamped iPad Pro and iPad Air models, Apple is expected to unveil a fresh Magic Keyboard and an updated Apple Pencil.

A notable shift awaits consumers as Apple integrates OLED screens into its iPads for the first time, mirroring the standard set by its iPhone counterparts. While this promises an enhanced user experience, it also signifies a likely increase in price points. The upcoming iPad Pro is expected to cost a bomb, especially in the Indian market known for its notorious and unfair pricing of Apple’s flagship products.

What’s Inside the new Apple iPad Pro?

Powering the new iPad Pro model is the anticipated M3 chip, accompanied by anticipated design alterations. The extent of these changes raises intriguing questions regarding how Apple aims to blur the lines between its iPad and MacBook offerings. You can expect the new iPad Pro model to be as premium as any high-end MacBook.

Apple is also expected to upgrade the sound and camera setup on the upcoming iPad Pro. In addition, the new iPad Pro is expected to be powered by a beefier battery cell.

Gurman’s report also hints at Apple’s ongoing efforts to refresh its low-end iPad and iPad mini variants. However, these updates aren’t expected until later in the year, with the low-end iPad likely to be a cost-reduced version of its 2022 predecessor.

The iPad Air, set to receive a new 12.9-inch version, is rumored to feature the M2 chipset, enhancing its performance capabilities. Coupled with the introduction of iPad OS 18, these advancements will undoubtedly redefine the iPad experience, and bridge the gap between Apple’s tablets and Mac devices.

It is worth noting that Apple’s strategy appears focused on revitalizing its tablet sales, which have faced stagnation in recent years. With upgrades aimed at attracting consumers back to the iPad ecosystem, the question arises: Will you opt for the new iPad this year, or has the device become redundant in a world dominated by phablets and MacBooks? Let us know in the comments.
