Oppo has announced a new premium smartwatch– Oppo Watch X, and it seems like déjà vu with a twist – the premium wearable is essentially a rebranded OnePlus Watch 2 with a fresh coat of paint.
Unlike the OnePlus Watch 2, which comes in Black Steel and Radiant Steel color variants, the Oppo Watch X will be offered in Mars Brown and Platinum Black color options.
In summary, BBK Electronics, the Chinese Multinational told Oppo to borrow the new WearOS-powered smartwatch from OnePlus, rename it, add some new color options, and voila, the market-ready product is set to hit the stores.
Priced around Rs. 24,500, the Oppo Watch X is up for grabs on Oppo’s official site, currently exclusive to Malaysia. Rumor has it; that China might be next on the list for a March launch, and India will be the third market to receive the rebranded wearable.
Now, let’s dissect this wrist-tech wonder. Featuring a 1.43-inch round AMOLED display, the Oppo Watch X boasts a crisp 466 x 466 pixel resolution, reaching a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. This is the same display that you will see on the OnePlus Watch 2.
Beneath the stylish circular dial lies a Snapdragon W5 chipset, 2GB RAM, and a generous 32GB of storage.
While the new wearable is the first WearOS watch from OnePlus, this is Oppo’s second WearOS smartwatch. If you recall, Oppo launched its first WearOS-enabled smartwatch way back in 2020. It was a premium Apple Watch-inspired WearOS smartwatch that impressed us with its overall performance, except for the poor battery life.
That’s exactly what the new OnePlus Watch 2 aka the Oppo Watch X tries to solve. The smartwatch is fuelled by a 500mAh battery cell, which is claimed to deliver up to 48 hours of use with heavy usage, 100 hours in Smart Mode, and a jaw-dropping 12 days in Power Saver mode. Both brands also claim that the battery cell recharges from 0 to 100 in just 60 minutes.
Fitness fanatics, pay attention! The Oppo Watch X is loaded with health features, from all-day sleep tracking to heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking, and a myriad of fitness modes – over 100 to be precise.
We are still waiting on an official statement from Oppo on the Indian launch of the Watch X. Keep your eyes peeled for official updates. So, if you had to pick between the OnePlus Watch 2 and the Oppo Watch X, which one’s got your wrist’s vote?
I guess the answer is pretty simple, if you are a OnePlus smartphone user, simply go for the OnePlus Watch 2, and Oppo users should go for the Oppo Watch X. This will ensure better connectivity and ecosystem experience in the longer run. However, if you are extremely design subjective, I would recommend going for the OnePlus Watch 2, as it looks slightly better with its distinctive color and strap options.
