Don’t buy the iPhone 15 yet! It could be broken, defective, or might even get you kicked in the gut!

What’s an iPhone launch without some level of drama? As soon as Apple’s latest offering iPhone 15 finally arrived at stores on Friday, it may have been a dream come true for many who waited long hours outside the stores but for some it was a rude shock as they found their phones discoloured, defective or broken.

There were even incidents of violent scuffles between customers and store staff, a video of which has gone viral on the internet.

Within hours of its release, customers have started flagging a slew of design and technical problems with the latest Apple flagship phones.

As per tech enthusiasts, the latest iPhones performed poorly on durability tests, much worse than its predecessor, and blamed the company for uneven coloring on the phones.

One user posted on X that the new curved edges seem to be more fragile than the straight-edge design.

Another person claimed that the company had not applied the coloring evenly on the phone, as well as the screen seemed not to be perfectly aligned with the edges.

An Apple support article has dismissed such claims of color change.

“For iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the oil from your skin might temporarily alter the color of the outside band. Wiping your iPhone with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth will restore the original look,” the company had said.

Till now, the issues that are emerging seem to be related to manufacturing defects, hence, should be covered under Apple warranty. As long as an iPhone is under warranty and comes with a manufacturing defect, the company replaces the unit with a fresh one. So if you have already bought a phone and realised it has issues, get in touch with Apple support. It should be resolved.

But, the best course of action right now would be to not buy the iPhone for a few months at least. Apple will likely iron out the issues in the next batch of phones.

The iPhone 15 is Apple’s most expensive phone till date, selling for as high as Rs 1,59,900 for the Pro Max model. The devices are the first from Apple to come with a USB Type-C charging port.

There is hardly anything new in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus as they are powered by last year’s A16 Bionic chip and come with the Dynamic Island.

All the major upgrades have been bestowed upon the top two models of the iPhone 15. Starting from a smart titanium frame, which was the highlight of the show, the two phones boast a light structure that is also stronger than previous models.

Another major upgrade is the new A17 Pro chipset, making the Pro model the first in the industry to come with a 3-nanometre architecture. Apple has claimed that the A17 chipset dramatically enhances performance while giving a full day’s worth of battery life.

The cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been upgraded too with a 48MP primary lens. Rumors haven’t really hit the mark with the camera speculations, as Apple didn’t introduce any periscope lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The phones may be good, we don’t doubt that, but they are not perfect, at least not yet. So hold on your money and wait a few months!
