Google leaks Google Pixel 8 Pro on its website, do you care?

It’s not a closely guarded secret if you show it around. That’s what has happened with Google, which is known to keep its new phones strictly under wraps until their official launch. The company accidentally, (or could it be a ploy to stir excitement?), posted a photo of the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro phone on its store.

A Porcelain White variant of the next Google flagship was spotted on the Google Store briefly before it was taken down. Google’s (un)intentional slip has confirmed some of the rumors floating in the market.

An updated unified visor is visible on the back cover which houses the rumored 50MP main, 64MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto modules.

An LED flash next to the camera assembly is also visible and the infrared temperature sensor can also be identified. It is expected that the sensor will allow users to measure their body temperature by pointing the camera to their temple region for a few seconds.

How do we know it’s not just the Pixel 7 Pro? Well, the unified capsule-shaped camera assembly is a dead giveaway, rather than being split in two side-to-side modules in Pixel 7 Pro.

The next hint is the presence of the temperature sensor. The phone’s color is similar to Pixel Fold’s Porcelain color option, it is a different hue than Pixel 7 Pro’s “Snow” color option.

The company also goofed up as the image’s alt text read: “A person takes a call on a Pixel 8 Pro phone in Porcelain.” Not so subtle, Google.

The Pixel 8 lineup is expected to launch in October and the rumour mills have been working double time to bring whatever that could remotely be a reality.

So far, it is expected that the Pixel 8 Pro will come with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED screen with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The top model, Pixel 8 Pro, will likely have three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

The Pixel 8 Pro too will be offered in three colors, named Licorice, Porcelain, and Sky.

The flagship will likely be powered by the upcoming Tensor G3 chipset alongside 12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage options. Pixel 8 Pro is expected to come with a 4,950 mAh battery with 27W charging and will run Android 14 out of the box.
