Hero Surge S32 electric vehicle launch in India
Hero Motocorp has taken the wraps off the Surge S32, an innovative and versatile three-wheeler cum scooter. The 2-in-1 modular electric vehicle can start a new trend in India with its unique design, functionality, and use cases. Tailor-made for the dynamic needs of self-employed individuals, the Surge S32 is currently the only vehicle in India that can offer the dual functionality of an electric rickshaw and an electric scooter, all within the same ingenious design.
Hero Surge S32 boasts a transformative feature: the ability to seamlessly convert from a conventional 3-wheeler electric cargo vehicle to a nimble 2-wheeler scooter in a mere 3 minutes. A single button push activates this metamorphosis, elegantly lifting the windshield section vertically and deploying a spring-loaded double-stand mechanism. The vehicle is built on the cutting-edge Advanced Modular Smart Electric Platform (AMCEP).
Three-Wheeler Configuration
In its three-wheeler avatar, the Surge S32 has a front passenger cabin featuring essentials like a windscreen, headlights, turn indicators, and wipers. The foresight of a potential removable and zippered soft door system ensures adaptability to various weather conditions. Powered by a robust 10 kW engine and an 11 kWh battery, it cruises at a top speed of 50 km/h, with an impressive load-carrying capacity of 500 kg.
Two-Wheeler Configuration
Transforming into a sleek two-wheeler, the Surge S32 looks appealing with LED headlights, turn indicators, speedo, and switchgear. With a 3 kW engine and a 3.5 kWh battery, it gains a slightly higher top speed of 60 km/h, adding a touch of sportiness to its repertoire.
The Surge S32 smartly distributes power between its 3-wheeler and 2-wheeler configurations. The 3-wheeler enjoys 10 kW (13.4 bhp), while the 2-wheeler zips around with 3 kW (4 bhp). Battery power is equally compartmentalized, with an 11 kWh battery for the 3-wheeler and a sizeable 3.5 kWh battery for the 2-wheeler.
Hero Surge S32 is expected to arrive in a diverse lineup, featuring three cargo models and one variant designed for carrying passengers, akin to an e-rickshaw. This revolutionary concept in electric commuting heralds unparalleled flexibility and adaptability, empowering self-employed individuals to navigate the urban landscape with unmatched versatility.
Hero Motocorp has introduced a very unique electric vehicle for Indian drivers. It has the potential to reshape the electric commuting landscape in India. We at Techtrackr believe that more brands can join the race and introduce such dual-functionality vehicles in India in 2024.
