Huawei Vision to directly compete with Apple Vision Pro but at half the price

Word on the street is that there’s a new player about to step into the mixed-reality headset scene: the Huawei Vision. Yep, you heard it right! This rumor suggests that Huawei, the once-upon-a-time Chinese powerhouse, is gearing up to throw down with Apple’s Vision Pro in the near future.

So, here’s the scoop: to amp things up and reel in more customers, word has it that the Huawei Vision is gonna share some similarities with the Apple Vision Pro. But get this – the Huawei one’s apparently gonna be way lighter on your noggin and cost just half as much as the Apple version!

According to Huawei Central, Li Nan, the ex-marketing director at Meizu, spilled the beans that this Apple Vision Pro rival from Huawei weighs in at a mere 350 grams. That’s a hefty difference compared to the chunky 600 grams of the $3,499 AR headset.

They’re saying the Huawei Vision might rock 4K Sony micro-OLED panels, possibly serving up that same mind-blowing experience as the Apple Vision Pro. Now, at first glance, they might seem like twins in terms of specs, but a closer look reveals they’re not exactly cut from the same cloth.

Take this for example: the Huawei Vision won’t have EyeSight, a nifty feature found in the Apple Vision Pro that mimics the wearer’s eyes. This lets folks interact with each other as if they’re right there, whether they’re standing or chilling side by side.

Here’s another thing to consider: the Apple Vision Pro might have the upper hand when it comes to the M2 and R1 chipset combo. The gossip mill suggests that Huawei plans to rely on its in-house chips for the AR headset, but we’re scratching our heads trying to figure out how they’ll outdo the Kirin 9000S.

The Chinese company and its partner, SMIC, are hustling to get that 5nm chip production rolling by the end of this year, but we’re not holding our breath that this tech will be good to go in time for the Huawei Vision launch.

They’re also saying this upcoming rival to the Apple Vision Pro will offer a near-instant response time, but if it’s packing a Kirin 9000S, we’re scratching our heads wondering how that’s gonna happen, especially with the heavy load of 4K data streams likely to slow things down and cramp its style in terms of performance.
