Hyundai Creta EV launch in India; check all details about the upcoming electric SUV

The Creta 2024 facelift had already set tongues wagging in the Indian market, and now, Hyundai is gearing up to amplify the buzz with the impending launch of the Creta EV. The highly anticipated electric variant of the Creta is scheduled to make its grand entrance later this year, probably in October, marking Hyundai’s entry into the mass EV market.

Recent sightings of a camouflaged test mule believed to be the Creta EV, have sent shutterbugs into a frenzy. Courtesy of Rushlane, the sneak peek reveals distinctive features, including quad-beam LED headlamps, horizon LED positioning lamps, and an intriguing LED sequential turn signal setup. The camo suggests a design overhaul, hinting at the fusion of the Creta’s iconic style with its electric ambitions.

Inside the cabin, the Creta EV is expected to mirror its conventional counterpart’s luxurious interiors and cutting-edge technology features. With seamlessly integrated infotainment and instrument cluster screens, front-row ventilated seats, a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, and a premium Bose sound system with eight speakers, the electric variant will ensure a tech-savvy and luxurious driving experience.

Safety features are anticipated to be robust, with expectations including six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist control, a burglar alarm, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera with dynamic guidelines, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

What Powers the Creta EV?

Beneath the surface, the Creta EV is rumored to sport a 45-kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem, providing a certified range of approximately 450 km. Tapping into the success of the new-gen Kona EV, the electric motor is expected to churn out 138 hp of max power and 255 Nm of peak torque. This should match the performance on the Creta’s ICE variant.

With the conventional Creta enjoying a cult following, the Creta EV is anticipated to keep the excitement levels high. As it gears up for a market debut, the electric SUV is set to lock horns with formidable rivals like Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG’s ZS EV, and the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki eVX.

India’s Mass EV Audience Stats

While Hyundai currently offers two electric vehicles in India, namely Kona and Ionic, their premium pricing places them beyond the reach of the mass market. Prices for the Creta EV could start from INR 15 lacs and go up to INR 25 lacs. The Creta EV has the chance to become a top seller in the respective price bracket because of the ‘Creta’ brand value, feature-loaded plush interiors, and appealing exteriors.
