Infinix Smart 8 is an iPhone 15 Pro lookalike on a budget; check specifications, price and budget

Infinix keeps dropping feature-packed budget smartphones in India. The latest to join the brand’s portfolio is the Smart 8, priced attractively at an introductory rate of Rs. 6,749. This budget iPhone 15 Pro lookalike could be a good sub-8K smartphone, find out why.

Boasting a 6.6-inch HD+ IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 NITs, the device aims to provide a compelling visual experience within the budget segment. The 500 NITS brightness isn’t downright tempting but the screen should work well indoors for video playback and day-to-day phone tasks.

Infinix knows design plays a crucial part in the sub-10K price bracket. The design of the Smart 8 takes inspiration from the iPhone 15 Pro and should appeal to the masses. The rear side of the handset flaunts a triangular camera module, reminiscent of the premium iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The smartphone is available in four color options: Galaxy White, Rainbow Blue, Shiny Gold, and Timber Black.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 50MP dual rear camera setup and the innovative Magic Ring feature encircling the front camera cutout. Similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, the Magic Ring displays notifications, battery status, and alerts.

Under the hood, the Smart 8 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC and runs on Android 13 Go Edition-based UI. It comes with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 onboard storage, offering virtual expansion of RAM up to 8GB and external storage extension of up to 2TB via a microSD card.

The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery to ensure extended usage and supports dual 4G, nano SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C connectivity. Additionally, it features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security. Notably, a fingerprint scanner on a sub-8K handset is a definite plus as it offers superior security than the software-led face unlock modes.

Infinix has unveiled the Smart 8 in the lone 4GB+64GB variant at a price of Rs. 7,499, but the smartphone will be available at a special launch price of Rs. 6,749 starting January 15, exclusively on Flipkart.

Overall, the Infinix Smart 8 seems like a decent option in the sub-8K price bracket. It offers a massive battery, a fluid 90Hz screen and a striking design. The handset stands out for its feature-rich specifications and pocket-friendly pricing, providing consumers with a noteworthy option in the price-conscious market.
