Less than a week earlier, Apple launched the latest iPhone 15 series. But it’s already past in terms of technology and people are looking forward to next year’s iPhones.
Rumours are already rife about the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup and it is believed that the smartphone family is going to be bigger and better than its predecessors.
If you are ready to skip the ridiculously expensive iPhone 15 line-up, you may get something better at possibly the same price.
Here’s what the rumor mills have dug up so far on the iPhone 16 phones:
According to MacRumors and Alchemist Leaks, the next iteration of iPhones could have what’s called “solid-state buttons”. After dropping the iconic mute switch for a customizable action button in the iPhone 15, Apple may go a step further with the solid-state buttons.
Solid-state buttons are panels with tactile feedback that give the sensation of pressing traditional mechanical buttons.
The iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus will likely have a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The two phones will have a 1.55mm bezel around the display.
It is also rumored that the higher models of iPhone 16 will have an under-display FaceID. The revolutionary technology has been rumored in the past, this time might be the charm.
However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said that his upgrade will only be possible by 2025 and not anytime soon.
Just like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus got last year’s A16 Bionic chips, the two lower models of the iPhone 16 will get the 3nm A17 chip.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will get the next generation of processors, possibly named the A18, which will improve performance by up to 5 percent and decrease battery consumption by 10 per cent.
There will of course be better cameras all around with the possibility of an ultra telephoto 300mm lens in the top model.
Apple could also introduce Wi-Fi 7 technology to the iPhone 16 Pro models which would allow data transmission in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands at the speed of around 40Gbps.
The iPhone 16 may still be at least a year in the future and there will definitely be many more rumors, some will stick, others will not. So we would advise taking everything with a pinch of salt, but one thing is for sure Apple would want to go further in the advancement of its iPhones.
