iPhone 16 Pro could also facilitate 5x telephoto camera like the 16 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto camera, which is a big improvement over the 3x telephoto sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. But Apple doesn’t have the 5x telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Last month, a report from Ming-Chi Kuo said that the company will fix that with the next lineup of smartphones by putting a 5x telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. And now, we have confirmation from another source about that.

In a new press release, TrendForce says “Following the successful launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with its exclusive Tetraprism telephoto zoom lens, the industry is expected to see an increase in the adoption of periscopic lens modules. Apple plans to bring this advanced hardware upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro, making it accessible to more users in the Pro series,” conforming that Apple will offer a 5x telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Kuo’s earlier report also said that Apple will put 48MP ultrawide cameras on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is a big jump from the 12MP sensors on the current models. While this is good news for Apple fans, it’s important to remember that these phones are still in the early stages of development. That means Apple could change its plans and not offer these cameras at any time. So, don’t get your hopes up too high.

Besides, according to a new report from The Information, Apple is working on “at least two” iPhone prototypes that fold horizontally, taking a cue from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.

Don’t expect a folding iPhone anytime soon, if ever. According to The Information, Apple isn’t planning to mass-produce the device in 2024 or 2025. Even though there’s talk of Apple wanting to make a foldable iPhone with displays on the outside, the report says that engineers are having a hard time with the design because it’s easy to break.

In addition, engineers are trying to make a foldable device that’s “as thin as current iPhone models,” but they’re having trouble with battery sizes and display parts. According to The Information, Apple has been talking to “at least one” manufacturer in Asia about getting parts for foldable iPhones in different sizes.
