The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to come with larger displays compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The latest render gallery gives us a glimpse of the cosmetic changes expected in this year’s flagship lineup. There’s talk of Apple shrinking the Dynamic Island, which could boost the screen-to-body ratio of both ‘Pro’ models, among other alterations. Let’s delve into the details and check out some renders based on numerous leaks and rumors.
The YouTube channel AppleTrack has dished out a thorough breakdown of the soon-to-drop iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, kicking off with the displays. After a few years, Apple is giving both models a size boost, bumping up the screen size from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro to a 6.3-inch one on the iPhone 16 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is anticipated to rock a 6.9-inch display, up from the 6.7 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
As most of you are aware, aside from enjoying a larger screen, the main perk of a bigger smartphone is the potential for a beefier battery. Sadly, that might not be the deal here, at least for the iPhone 16 Pro. A prototype’s battery was revealed to have a capacity of 3,355mAh, just a modest 2.48 percent bump from the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3,274mAh cell. Fingers crossed these specs see some improvement because it’s about time Apple keeps up with the trend of using larger batteries like its competitors.
A major tweak in the works is shrinking down the Dynamic Island. In one of the renders, the iPhone 16 Pro flaunts a front-facing punch-hole cutout, and there’s even buzz that Apple tested a model with this design. While it’s totally possible for the Dynamic Island to morph into a punch-hole cutout, Apple usually sticks to the same design for a couple of years before shaking things up.
There’s also talk of a fresh capture button for video recording. When it comes to cameras, both ‘Pro’ models expected to drop later this year are rumored to pack a 5x tetraprism optical zoom camera. Unlike last year when only the iPhone 15 Pro Max got this hardware, now consumers can look forward to upgrading to the iPhone 16 Pro without splurging on the highest-tier flagship. Regarding the chipset, AppleTrack thinks that the ‘Pro’ tag will stick around this year, and the new SoC will be dubbed the A18 Pro.
