iQOO has launched its latest flagship smartphone, the iQOO 12, in India, targeting consumers with a penchant for gaming and photography. The handset, available in two styles – the Alpha variant with AG Glass rear and the Legend model with a white-colored porcelain enamel glass back, offers a premium aesthetic. It kinda looks pretty cool.

Boasting an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, the iQOO 12 measures 163.2 x 75.9 x 8.1mm and weighs 203.9g. The device features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 3000 NITS.

The triple rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree FOV and an f/2.0 aperture, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera supporting 3x optical zoom, 100x hybrid zoom, and an f/2.6 aperture. A 16-megapixel selfie camera with a wide-angle lens and an f/2.5 aperture is equipped for selfies and video chats. This seems like a well-thought camera hardware for a sub-55K handset. We expect to see some good still photography results from this movie camera.

Under the hood, the iQOO 12 houses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, offering up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Catering to gaming enthusiasts, the device incorporates a 6,010 sq. mm vapor chamber with four cooling zones for efficient gaming performance.

Running on Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 out-of-the-box, the smartphone packs a robust 5,000mAh battery with 120W FlashCharge support for quick and convenient charging.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, an infrared blaster, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. The iQOO 12 is offered in two variants – 12GB + 256GB priced at Rs. 52,999 and 16GB + 512GB priced at Rs. 57,999.

If you are exploring the value-flagship smartphone market, it’s worth noting that OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 12 in India, intensifying the competition in the market. The OnePlus 12 will also use the same flagship chipset and is expected to offer a slightly more powerful camera setup.

It will be an interesting fight, something we would not want you to miss.
