Lenovo reportedly has an AI operating system in the works

Lenovo is cooking up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) operating system that could give Windows 11 a run for its money. At CES 2024, Liu Jun, the bigwig over at Lenovo, dropped some hints about their plans to roll out this AI OS sometime this year. It’s all part of their master plan to push their artificial intelligence business to the next level.

This move comes after the company revealed its full-stack intelligence strategy last year, establishing Lenovo as the top dog in the industry when it comes to AI solutions and services with a complete full-stack intelligence setup.

Although Liu Jun didn’t spill all the beans, he mentioned that Lenovo’s fresh AI OS will revolve around multi-terminal products. They’re putting their energy into AI PCs and personal agents. The company is gearing up to drop a lineup of AI PCs in the first half of this year. These bad boys are rumored to come equipped with multi-modal natural language interaction features, stepping up their game in understanding what users want and need.

The company is also working on AI-packed smart gadgets, with a focus on ensuring that everyone gets a taste of AI while keeping privacy and security in check. Lenovo’s AI OS is supposedly geared towards boosting the AI PC ecosystem and pushing their AI hardware into uncharted territory, but the specifics are still up in the air.

Lenovo’s grand ideas are just one piece of the puzzle in the tech world’s trend of companies thinking about or actually creating their own operating systems, not only in China but everywhere. If they hit the jackpot, Lenovo’s AI OS could shake things up just like Huawei’s HarmonyOS is eyeing Google’s Android.

Lenovo dropped the news about teaming up even more with Nvidia, aiming to spread generative AI tools to all kinds of businesses. The heads honchos behind this big move? Lenovo’s Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang and Nvidia’s CEO and Founder Jensen Huang, along with top dogs from AMD, Intel, and Microsoft.
