MG Comet EV was a surprising EV launch in 2023 but you know what was more surprising, its exorbitant pricing. The cute little EV hatchback’s base model ex-showroom price was just slightly lower than Kia Sonet’s HTE variant’s on-road price (Rs. 8.05 lakhs).

The high price reduced MG Comet EV’s overall value and pushed the potential buyers to consider alternatives such as the Tata Tiago EV, which is still a better overall product because of obvious reasons for its unmatched practicality over the Comet EV. However, with MG’s new decision, the Comet EV might turn some good numbers. Let’s take a closer look.

So, the news is, that MG has corrected its mistake. The carmaker has implemented a comprehensive price revision across its lineup, notably making the Comet EV significantly more affordable. The revised pricing places the Comet EV in the range of Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 8.58 lakh (ex-showroom).

Notably, the Comet EV’s top-end variant ex-showroom price is now Rs. 11,000 cheaper than the entry-level variant of the Tata Tiago EV 19.2 kWh battery pack, which costs Rs. 8.69 lakhs (ex-showroom).

If you compare the Comet EV’s top-end variant’s price to the top-end 24kWh Tata Tiago, you will notice a massive price difference of Rs. 3,51,000. Now that’s a huge difference and this might just be the reason that buyers might consider the Comet EV’s top-end variant over the Tata Tiago EV’s top-end trim.

If you just, for one moment, ignore the obvious lack of rear doors in the MG Comet EV, it comes around as an excellent city commuter than the Tiago EV in various aspects. The top-level version of the Comet EV has a more feature-packed interior at a lower cost. It also looks cool on the outside, has a strong build, and drives better in the city. So, even without rear doors, the Comet EV is a great option for people who want a stylish and practical car for city commuting.

The Comet EV is available in a range of color options, and all look pretty cool. You can buy the cool EV hatchback in Apple Green and Starry Black, Candy White and Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Candy White, and Starry Black colors.

We would also advise you to check out the all-new Tata Punch EV if you are anyways willing to spend close to Rs. 10 lakhs on a new electric vehicle. It’s heavy on features, safety, and styling.
