HMD Global has launched the latest Nokia G42 5G smartphone in India in some striking new colors and decent specs for the price segment.
Priced at Rs 12,599, the budget smartphone will be available for purchase online on the e-commerce platform Amazon from September 15 at 12 pm. Here’s what makes the latest Nokia phone special.
The Nokia G42 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus chipset and Andreno 619 GPU. It comes with 4GB and 6GB RAM options, along with 128GB storage that is expandable up to 1TB with a microSD card.
The 4GB variant supports an additional 2GB of virtual RAM and the 6GB variant can add another 5GB RAM virtually, effectively making it a 11GB phone.
The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the 6.56-inch HD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The glass protection gives additional resistance against smudges and scratches. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The phone runs on Android 13 with the promise of two years of operating system upgrades.
In the camera department, the Nokia G42 packs a triple-camera setup on the back which consists of a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP macro lens. The phone has an 8MP Camera for selfies.
The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which is touted to run for three days on full charge. The phone supports 20W fast charging.
One of the USPs of the phone is that its back cover is composed of 65 per cent recycled plastic.
The phone will be available in So Purple and So Grey colors.
In this price range, Xiaomi’s Redmi 12 5G is a tough contender which is India’s first Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 smartphone. It is priced at Rs 11,499 for the 6GB +128GB variant on Flipkart.
