Ola launches its most affordable electric scooter at Rs 79,999

Despite being in the electric two-wheeler segment for a while, Ola Electric has so far failed to lure the everyday consumer because of its scooters’ hefty price range.

With its latest series of vehicles, the company is trying to rectify the situation. Ola has launched its most affordable electric scooter with the S1X, starting at Rs 79,999.

Ola Electric on Wednesday launched three variants of its latest scooter: S1X (2kWh), S1X and S1X Plus. Let’s take a look at what the series of electric vehicles has to offer:

At first glance, the S1X doesn’t look much different from the remaining S1 series. It is only a few minor tweaks here and there, including the slightly larger size of the headlight cowl at the top, however, it still packs in a similar twin LED projectors with an LED bezel around it.

It also gets a flat floorboard similar to the new S1 Gen 2 series. Other than that, the handlebar appears a bit different and the mirrors are more rounded than before.

The base model is powered by a 2kWh battery, which would offer a range of 91 km. The mid-spec model runs on a 3kWh battery unit. The top model comes with a 4kWh battery.

The S1X 3kWh and S1X+ claim to offer a range of 151 km.

All three models also differ in the features and performance that they offer.

While the base model comes with a slower 350W charger, the other two scooters pack in a faster 500W charger.

All three models run on the same motor with a rated output of 6kW or 8.04 bhp. The top speed on the top two models is 90 kmph, while the S1X base model reaches up to 85 kmph.

The S1X+ is different from the lower two models in connectivity features. While the S1X comes with a 3.5-inch segmented display, physical key unlocking system and without any connectivity, the S1X+ has a bigger 5-inch display, keyless unlocking, and smart connectivity options.

The launch price of the S1X base model has been set at Rs 79,999, the S1X 3kWh at Rs 89,999, and the S1X+ at Rs 99,999. However, this price will increase by Rs 10,000 for all three models after the first week.

The bookings for all three models start immediately but the delivery of the two S1X models will begin by December.

The S1X+ will start reaching customers by the end of September.
