OnePlus sends threats to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 with OnePlus Open foldable phone

OnePlus has joined the ranks of Samsung, Google, Motorola, and Oppo by launching its first foldable phone: the OnePlus Open.

The company launched the phone at an event titled ‘Open for Everything’. OnePlus was once known for its subtlety, but not anymore.

Moving on, the handset has been priced at Rs 139,999 in India and its open sale will begin from October 27.

Before you read further, it should be noted that the OnePlus Open is Oppo Find N3 in disguise. It is the same phone but rebranded.

Standing in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, the OnePlus Open features a 7.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the outside, there’s a 6.31-inch 2K LTPO cover display with a flexible 10-120Hz refresh rate and ceramic guard protection. Both screens come with a peak brightness of 2,800 nits.

The OnePlus Open is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

In the camera department, the foldable phone packs a triple-camera setup on the back that includes a 48MP Sony LYT-T808 primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 48MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens that is capable of 6X optical zoom along and 120X digital zoom.

For selfies and video calls, the OnePlus Open comes with a 32MP selfie camera on the cover screen and a 20MP camera on the inner display.

The OnePlus Open comes in two colors — Vulture Black and Emerald Dust.

The phone packs a 4,805mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. The company claims that the phone can be fully charged in just 42 minutes.

The phone runs on Android 13 and OxygenOS 3.2 interface. The OnePlus Open will receive Android updates for four years and security updates for five years.

Pre-orders are now open on various platforms including Amazon, the OnePlus website, the OnePlus Store app, OnePlus Experience Stores, Reliance Digital, and select partner stores.

Buyers will also be able to enjoy discounts up to Rs 13,000 through bank offers and exchanging the old phone. There will be an instant bank discount available if the phone is purchased using ICICI bank debit or credit cards.
