Realme 12X 5G breaks as India’s cheapest 5G smartphone, what’s on offer?

Realme has added a new entry-level handset to its budget smartphone line-up in India. The all-new Realme 12X has been launched in India as one of the most affordable 5G smartphones. Starting at Rs. 11,999 (4GB+128GB), the handset brings some notable features and hardware specs, making it a good option for price-conscious buyers in India. What does Realme 12X 5G bring to the table? Let’s have a look.

Realme 12X 5G Key Specifications and Features

The Realme 2X 5G is offered in two color options – Twilight Purple and Woodland Green and looks pretty stylish for its price. The handset has a flat front and back with a big circular camera module placed in the center. Weighing 188g, this budget phone is IP54-rated and measures 165.6mm x 76.1mm x 7.69mm in size.

The smartphone flaunts a 6.72-inch full-HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) IPS LCD display. Despite its low price, the phone’s screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which shall enable a smooth user experience. The display has 950 nits of peak brightness.

The Realme 12X 5G is fuelled by a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC mated with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The CPU is supported by up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 onboard storage. The phone ships with Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0. These are decent numbers for an entry-level handset and should ensure smooth performance for most day-to-day tasks.

As for the camera, the Realme 12X 5G’s big circular camera module houses two sensors- a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. What else you expect from an entry-level 5G-enabled device? For selfies and video calls, you get a centrally aligned 8-megapixel sensor.

The budget-friendly phone comes with handy features like a Dynamic Button, Air Gestures, and Mini Capsule 2.0. The Dynamic Button acts as a shortcut for various functions such as Airplane mode and camera shutter. Air Gestures enable touchless interaction, while Mini Capsule 2.0 displays calls, charging status, and alerts through animations around the hole-punch cutout on the display.

One of the most notable features of the Realme 12X 5G is its beefier battery cell with respectable fast charging. The smartphone draws power from a 5,000mAh battery cell supported by a 45W wired SuperVOOC charging. Other useful additions include- dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. For connectivity, the smartphone gets dual 5G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C connectivity.
