British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce has made a grand entrance into the electric vehicle market in India with the launch of its latest creation – the all-new Spectre. As the third-generation Goodwood-era Rolls-Royce car, the Spectre stands out with its visually stunning two-door fastback design that redefines luxury in the electric vehicle segment. There’s no electric vehicle that can match the luxury of the Spectre, we mean it.
Priced at a staggering Rs 7.5 crore, the Spectre is India’s most expensive electric car, showcasing Rolls-Royce’s commitment to blending opulence with eco-friendly technology. Despite its all-electric nature, the Spectre maintains the brand’s distinctive identity, featuring the iconic Rolls-Royce grille adorned with 22 soft LEDs, casting an elegant glow that might just blind Audi, BMW, and Mercedes EVs in a head-on battle.
Measuring approximately 5 meters in length and boasting a coupe style with a sweeping roofline, the Spectre commands attention on the road. Its imposing presence is further accentuated by massive 23-inch alloy wheels – a first for any Rolls-Royce car.
Inside the Spectre, luxury reaches new heights with meticulously crafted surfaces using premium materials like metal, leather, and wood. The cabin hosts two digital screens, one for infotainment and the other for the digital instrument gauge cluster, ensuring a seamless blend of modern technology and classic craftsmanship.
Powering the Spectre is a formidable 102 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 530 km. The electric drivetrain comprises two motors mounted on the front and rear axles, collectively generating 575 bhp and 900 Nm. With active suspension and four-wheel steering, the Spectre accelerates from 0-100 km/h in a swift 4.5 seconds.
Charging the Spectre’s battery is remarkably fast, taking only 34 minutes to go from 10-80% using a 195 kW DC fast charger. The company emphasizes the noiseless and clean nature of the electric car, eliminating vibrations and smells associated with traditional vehicles.
Noteworthy is the ‘recuperative braking’ feature, allowing the driver to opt for a single-pedal drive mode, enhancing the car’s range by converting kinetic energy during braking into electrical energy.
The Spectre introduces Rolls-Royce’s new infotainment platform, ‘SPIRIT,’ providing owners with a unique connection to their vehicle through the Whispers app. This app goes beyond conventional voice-based controls, allowing customization of the car’s interior palette and exterior finish.
In summary, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is truly the Big Daddy of the Electric Cars. It combines the epitome of luxury with cutting-edge electric technology, setting a new standard for opulence in the Indian electric car market. Even Mercedes will take some time to match the standards set by the new Spectre.
