Taiwanese battery company Gogoro launches its first CrossOver GX250 smart scooter in India; check details

Giving more fuel to India’s thriving EV scooter market, Taiwanese battery company Gogoro has opened a battery swapping network in Delhi and Goa with plans to expand to Mumbai and Pune Maharashtra. Gogoro designs alternatives to gas-powered vehicles for specific market and industry needs, and Gogoro envisions India as a critical and competitive market, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Gogoro’s battery-swapping network, already supporting nearly 600,000 riders globally, now spans Delhi and Goa. With over 1.3 million smart batteries circulating through 12,000 battery swapping stations at 2,500 locations in Taiwan, Gogoro’s network has achieved more than 400,000 daily battery swaps and an impressive 510 million total swaps, resulting in the reduction of over 785,000 tons of CO2 since its inception in 2015.

In addition to the battery swapping initiative, Gogoro has also introduced its inaugural range of electric scooters—the Gogoro CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S—in India. These scooters, initially available to business-to-business (B2B) customers in Delhi and Goa, are slated for Mumbai and Pune expansion, with consumer availability expected in the second quarter of 2024.

Horace Luke, Founder, and CEO of Gogoro expressed optimism, stating, “India is well positioned to lead the shift to sustainable consumer and B2B transportation.” He elaborated on the CrossOver series, highlighting the India-made CrossOver GX250’s features, including increased seating space, enhanced storage, and improved ground clearance, tailored to meet the specific demands of Indian riders.

Gogoro CrossOver series is built on a redesigned all-terrain frame. The company assures that the frame enables increased rigidity and comfort while offering a variety of storage, riding, and customization capabilities. The CrossOver will be available in India in three models, the CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S. The CrossOver GX250 is immediately available today with the CrossOver 50 and CrossOver S shipping later in 2024.

Gogoro CrossOver GX250 Specifications

The CrossOver GX250 is Gogoro’s first India-made Smartscooter. It integrates India-specific features that Gogoro pilot riders in India requested. Gogoro claims that the GX250 is optimized for various road conditions. It adopts a newly developed all-terrain frame that provides increased rigidity for improved strength and stability. The new frame also provides 176mm of ground clearance, the highest in Gogoro’s current vehicle lineup.

CrossOver GX250 is fuelled by a 2.5 kW Direct Drive motor that provides a top speed of 60+kph and a certified range of 111km. The CrossOver GX250’s new frame design is claimed to increase the durability of the suspension system and accommodate larger loads while emphasizing comfort and stability. The scooter’s rear seat can be flipped up or removed to add cargo storage as needed. Pretty cool, right?

The Gogoro CrossOver GX250 is most likely priced at Rs. 99,600; however, we advise you to check with your local dealer for the best price.
