Tata Harrier EV Unveiled at Bharat Mobility Expo 2024; check range and price details

Tata Motors has taken the wraps off its much-anticipated electric flagship, the Tata Harrier EV, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. The sleek, all-electric SUV seems to bring a perfect blend of power, technology, and futuristic design, positioning itself as a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) market, and a possible threat to MG’s premium EV portfolio.

Expected to price between 35-50 lakhs, the Harrier EV boasts an impressive claimed range of over 500 km on a single charge. If the real-life figures meet the claims, the Harrier EV can set a new benchmark for EVs in India. For those looking for an extended drive, the SUV will likely offer a variant with a single electric motor, slightly compromising power and range but still providing over 400 km on a full charge.

The twin electric motors, strategically positioned on each wheel, ensure all-wheel-drive capabilities, elevating the Harrier EV’s performance. Notably, the electric SUV supports DC fast charging, reflecting Tata’s commitment to making EV charging more accessible and efficient. The Harrier EV also offers vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle capabilities.

Inside the cabin, the Harrier EV is going to be tech-lovers dream, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS system, automatic climate control, and a futuristic two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo that contributes to the SUV’s premium appeal.

It is worth noting that the Harrier EV is built on the Acti.ev architecture, also seen in the Punch EV. The platform promises good efficiency, ample interior space, and an optimally sized battery capacity. This architecture will be seen on Tata’s upcoming coupe-styled SUV, the Curvv. Tata also showcased the Curvv’s production-ready model at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2024.

Visually, the Harrier EV stands out with its aggressive front, clean surfaces, and sharp lines. The “seaweed” body color gives it a unique identity, further accentuated by wide LED Daytime Running Lights and aerodynamically efficient serrated turbine blade wheels. Prominent front and rear skid plates, roof rails, and a blacked-out roof and pillars contribute to the SUV’s commanding road presence.

While the alloy wheels may not be everyone’s favorite, the overall design and features of the Tata Harrier EV make it a strong contender in the competitive electric SUV market. As Tata continues to push boundaries with its Acti.ev architecture, the Harrier EV signals a promising future for electric mobility in India. We will wait for Tata to reveal the prices of different Harrier EV variants in India in the coming month.
