Xiaomi will soon unveil its next flagship smartphone in India. Set to rival the recently unveiled OnePlus 12, the Xiaomi 14 will launch in India on March 7, 2024.
Xiaomi 14 is the entry-level handset from the company’s latest flagship series, which debuted in China in October last year. The other two smartphones in the series- the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra won’t make it to the Indian market on the said date.
Xiaomi 14 will most likely be priced under Rs. 60,000. The base variant could start at Rs. 52,999. With its value flagship pricing, the Xiaomi 14 will rival the recently unveiled OnePlus 12-series, offering two handsets- the OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus 12R.
Xiaomi 14 Key Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi 14 introduces a compelling set of specifications. It features a 6.36-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED panel, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits. This display shall ensure a high-quality visual experience, aligning with the industry’s current standards.
The smartphone comes equipped with a triple rear camera setup in collaboration with Leica. The 50MP primary sensor, equipped with OIS and a Leica Summilux optical lens, is complemented by a 50MP telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The 32MP front-facing shooter caters to selfie and video calling needs. While these specifications seem promising on paper, the real-world performance will be crucial to assessing the device’s camera capabilities.
Powering the Xiaomi 14 is a 4,610 mAh battery, supporting 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The combination of a substantial battery capacity and fast-charging options aims to address the users’ demand for prolonged usage without compromising convenience.
Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, offering configurations with up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage. The same SoC also powers the OnePlus 12 but is paired with up to 24GB RAM option. The OnePlus 12 also runs a more refined software skin and offers a more premium user experience.
The Xiaomi 14 can arrive in India in a variety of color options, including Jade Green, Black, White, and Snow Mountain Pink. Further details, including the price and availability, will be revealed on March 7, 2024.
If you are planning to buy a new flagship Android smartphone, and are confused between Xiaomi and OnePlus offerings, we suggest investing in the OnePlus ecosystem. Our in-house testing, market research, and consumer interviews suggest that Xiaomi’s premium offerings, despite offering great hardware and features, fail to match the overall performance of the OnePlus handsets.
Xiaomi smartphones also have lower resale value as compared to OnePlus handsets. If you change smartphones in less than a year, OnePlus smartphones will offer better value for your investments.
