Xiaomi has finally released an official statement on its highly anticipated HyperOS UI rollout for India. The company shared the news on X (previously known as Twitter), revealing, “#XiaomiHyperOS is ready to debut in India soon. The rollout, commencing in January 2024, will kick off with the flagship Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet.
Soon, the new HyperOS UI will be rolled out to older Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones via an OTA update.
What is Xiaomi HyperOS UI?
The HyperOS is the biggest-ever software update since the inception of Xiaomi as a smartphone maker. Notably, the HyperOS will replace the MIUI and become the default OS to boot on all upcoming Xiaomi devices.
HyperOS was first introduced with the Xiaomi 14-series. The Android UI skin is essentially a multi-platform designed to run on a range of devices including smartphones, tablets, wearables, and even on Xiaomi’s latest innovation- the SU7 Electric Sedan, which comes in two variants. Devices powered by Xiaomi HyperOS are said to offer the following upgrades:
Enhanced Performance: HyperOS promises faster boot times, smoother animations, and improved background app retention for an optimized user experience.
AI Integration: The operating system integrates artificial intelligence for intelligent functionalities and personalized interactions.
Cross-Device Connectivity: HyperOS facilitates seamless connectivity across devices, enhancing user convenience. With HyperOS running on different devices, users can answer calls on different devices seamlessly, transform a smartphone’s rear camera into a webcam on a laptop, share mobile data effortlessly, etc.
Robust Privacy and Security Measures: The operating system prioritizes user privacy and security with robust measures to safeguard personal data.
Cosmetic UI Changes: The HyperOS will also bring a series of UI changes including an iOS-inspired lock screen, customizable widgets, a notification system reminiscent of Dynamic Islands, and an enhanced Quick Settings menu.

Some notable flagship devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra remain absent from the list, which will come as a big disappointment to users who had spent a fortune on the flagship Xiaomi handsets. This is one big reason we cannot fully recommend investing in Xiaomi flagship devices as their software update cycle is not quite there in terms of offering a true flagship experience.
